Family camp – More info!!

This weekend will be the long awaited Family Camp at Park Farm in Lurgashall. All families are very welcome to attend!

Park Farm is a campsite owned by the Woodcraft Folk. It has reasonable facilities – clean toilets, modern showers, kitchen tent etc.

Ron Hills and myself toured the site on Saturday morning and the opportunities for the children to have a great time are fantastic. The site is made up of four fields and a wood – all of which are available for our use. There is an adventure playground and some equipment like go-carts which looked great fun. At some point we’ll venture out for a walk which will take us past Lurgashall Winery – I gather groups often stop there for an ice cream. During the weekend we’ll organise some wide games and there’ll be equipment for rounders, cricket, football etc.

We’ll be setting up camp from 6pm on Friday evening and will set off for home mid morning on Sunday. Families are welcome to join us for just one night if that suits your family arrangements this weekend.

Finding the site is relatively straightforward. Take the A272 towards Midhurst. Go through Midhurst on the A272 until you see the sign towards Lodsworth on your left. Go through Lodsworth until you get to a village called Lickfold. Just after this village you’ll see the signs to the village of Lurgashall. There’s a big village green in Lurgashall with a pub called the Noah’s Ark. To the right of the pub there’s a little lane which takes you directly to Park Farm which is about 800 yards on the right. Park Farm is marked on the OS Map at 938275.

Camp food will be provided – a BBQ on Friday night. There’ll be a range of cereals, bread, jam, peanut butter etc for breakfasts. Lunch will be a feast of soup, baked beans etc. And on Saturday night we’ll be taking it easy with a Fish and Chip supper in local Midhurst.

You’ll need to bring your own camping equipment – tent, sleeping bags etc.

Woodcraft do own some tents so ask if you’d like to borrow one as that’s easy to arrange.

Families do need to come properly dressed for a weekend outdoors so please bring warm clothes and suitable footwear – a pair of wellies would be great!

Also, it gets dark now from about 7.30pm so a torch is also essential.

The cost of the weekend is £10 / family / night. So if you’re staying for two nights it’s £20 for your whole family.

INTERESTED? I do need to know names in advance. Please drop me an e-mail and let me know which nights you’ll be coming. I’ll also need full names of all your family members, the ages of the children and an emergency contact for the weekend. Payment can be made over the weekend. So far we’ve got 11 families that have confirmed attendance so they’ll be plenty of fun to be had.

I know I won’t have covered everything in the above e-mail so please don’t hesitate to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Best wishes

Brian

PS – For Third Place Members and Venturers (Year 7 onwards) that don’t fancy the camp there is a skittles night arranged. Please see the website for further details.
