Third Place

The Third Place is for anyone over the the age of 13 including the members of the Youth Achievement Awards. We have rented an extra room in the Triangle Centre and this allows the older group to be separated from the younger group if they wish whilst still allowing them to participate in the group activities and use all of the club's equipment. Each week the club allows a certain piece of equipment to be set up only for the Third Place, so allowing the older group to have access to all of the equipment throughout the year. For example, some of the equipment used by the older group includes; Karaoke machine, Data Projector to play computer games on a large screen, Multiple gaming consoles, Plasma TV, DVD player, Video player, Broadband Internet and much more.

We have just completed a pre-driving course called 1st Gear with the help of Pam and Jane. The course is accredited at level one by the Open College Network and those taking part had to be at least 16. The course included meeting with the Red Cross for first aid training, the Police, Hampshire County Council safety team, the Fire Service for a demonstration of people being cut from a vehicle and a visit to Eastleigh College for Basic Car Maintenance instruction. Finally, we also had the chance to drive a car. The course also looked at environmental impact and driver and citizen responsibility. We bought the course from Youth Clubs Hampshire and Isle of Wight with grants from the Police Federation and Connexions so we'd like to thank them for this opportunity.

Previously, we have been on a trip to London which included a walk around places like the Eye, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and finally Tottenham Court Road to see the Queen musical "We will rock you".

In addition to this, in connection with the Youth Achievement Awards, any activity we plan can be used as part of the award scheme. In the past we have organised a Fair Trade Cafe, Film shows and Sponsored walks for Marwell Zoo to 'Save the Tigers' .

Having fun at the 'Back to Basics' Camp. We had made the camp chairs during the day and needed to test them out!
