This week….Southsea…

On Friday we’ll be going to Southsea on the train for a walk by the sea and short visit to the funfair. It’s a fun trip which the children always enjoy (the train journey as much as the funfair!).

We’l meet at Liss station at 1745 and be back at 2200. To make trip work we’ll need a good ratio of adults to children so any adults who would consider coming with us would be appreciated. I’ll need to get the tickets on Thursday so please let me know who’s coming before then. Email me at this address georgiacourt@btinternet.com

LISS WOODCRAFT FOLK

FAMILY  CAMP – LURGASHALL

Friday 11th July to Sunday 13th July 2014

All families are very welcome to attend our family camp at Lurgashall. We’ll be setting up camp from 6pm on Friday evening and will set off for home after lunch on Sunday. Families are welcome to join us for just one night if that suits your family arrangements.

The opportunities for children to have a great time are fantastic. The site is made up of four fields and a wood – all of which are available for our use. There is an adventure playground and some equipment like go-carts which are great fun! During the weekend we’ll organise some wide games and there’ll be equipment for rounders, cricket, football etc. This time I want to try and give the children some leadership roles for example I’d like a group of children to plan and lead a walk in the country. Others ought to plan and create parts of our meals…

The cost of the weekend is £10 / family / night. So if you’re staying for two nights it’s £20 for your whole family.

You’ll need to bring your own camping equipment – tent, sleeping bags etc. Woodcraft do own some tents so ask if you’d like to borrow one as that’s easy to arrange.

Families do need to come properly dressed for a weekend outdoors so please bring warm clothes and suitable footwear – a pair of wellies would be great!

Camp food will be provided – a BBQ on Friday night. There’ll be a range of cereals, bread, jam, peanut butter etc for breakfast. Lunch will be a feast prepared by the children. And on Saturday night we’ll be taking it easy with a take away. You’ll also need to bring a mug, plate, bowl and eating utensils.

INTERESTED? We do need to know names in advance. Please send Brian an e-mail at brian.pope@hants.gov.uk  and let us know which nights you’ll be coming. We’ll also need full names of all your family members, the ages of the children and an emergency contact for the weekend. Last time around 15 families attended and we’re hoping for more this time.

This week we are at Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Please note, we are at Queen Elizabeth Country Park this Friday (20th) for a BBQ. We have had beautiful evenings there in previous years, the children always enjoy the freedom ( and the food).

Apologies to all the parents that Anne and I told we were swimming on Friday – we had both got mixed up! It’s definitely the BBQ.

We’ll meet at the juniper BBQ site from 6pm and will need everyone to be picked up by 9pm (if the weather is dodgy we might go for an earlier pick up).

Juniper is the one we have used before, right up at the top end of the park, the signage is pretty good and there is a map on their website so you can check it out in advance. If you do have any problems on the night, my mobile is 07803 139728.

Please could you let me know if your children are coming, how many and if they have any special dietary requirements so we can get the right amount of food. (By end of wednesday would be very helpful).

As always, any extra adults to stay and help supervise would be welcomed. There is a shelter there so we’d only cancel if it was absolutely terrible weather.

This week…Beach Holiday!!!…..sort of….

This week, we will be at the Triangle Centre where we’ll defy the British weather and have a “beach holiday” theme at Woodcraft. Wear your favourite holiday outfit and we’ll have a chilled evening of making fruity cocktails, beach games and beach-themed crafts.
