This week…Autumn Family Camp

FAMILY  CAMP – Sustainability Centre

Friday 27 September to Sunday 29 September 2013

All families are very welcome to attend our family camp at the Sustainability Centre which is sited between Clanfield and East Meon. We’ll be setting up camp from 6pm on Friday evening and will set off for home lunchtime on Sunday. Families are welcome to join us for just one night if that suits your family arrangements.

The Sustainability Centre looks like a great location for a Family Camp. There’s lots of open space and access to the South Downs so that we can go for a waddle up the South Downs Way. As always with our camps the children are given lots of freedom and we try to respond to meet their interests as the weekend unfolds. I’ve already got planned a forage in the hedgerows for blackberries and dew berries so that we can make a crumble to eat.

The cost of the weekend is £15 / family / night. So if you’re staying for two nights it’s £30 for your whole family.

You’ll need to bring your own camping equipment – tent, sleeping bags etc. Woodcraft do own some tents so ask if you’d like to borrow one as that’s easy to arrange.

Families do need to come properly dressed for a weekend outdoors so please bring warm clothes and suitable footwear – a pair of wellies would be great!

Camp food will be provided – a BBQ on Friday night. There’ll be a range of cereals, bread, jam, peanut butter etc for breakfasts. Lunch will be a feast prepared by the children. And on Saturday night we’ll be taking it easy with a take away (pay for you family). You’ll also need to bring a mug, plate, bowl and eating utensils.

INTERESTED? We do need to know names in advance. Please send Brian an e-mail at brian.pope@hants.gov.uk  and let us know which nights you’ll be coming. We’ll also need full names of all your family members, the ages of the children and an emergency contact for the weekend. Usually we have about 15 families attend these camps.
